Molecules 앱 리뷰

Can

This app doesn't allow you to look up specific molecules! So good luck trying to use this for study if the molecule you want isn't on there! I wouldn't reccoment this app at all if you need it for an advanced science course.

Can't add your own!! Lame!

I need an app that looks like this but lets me add on to or edit molecules! Is one out there???

Not good for research or studying.

I do alot of genetic modeling and BMS. Version 1.5 of this program has an okay database of molecules, but thats really it. It doesn't allow you to create any molecule of your own, or edit the existing ones. The molecules do display a datasheet, but the information is from wikipedia. While that information does seem to be correct thus far, its something that could be improved. Its a great tool for comparing the physical structure of the 230 different types of molecules, but nothing more. It's not the best for research purposes and unless your studying routine involves staring at 3D pictues of molecules that may not be on an exam, I don't see much use for this program in an academic setting either. The graphics are very well done, the rotating molecules are smooth and zooming in and out is just as smooth or better. Overall, a decent program, but not worth more than $0.99 in my opinion. Pros: Decent database Excellent graphics Cons: Cannot construct custom molecules or edit existing molecules $4.99 Price tag Molecule's wikipedia information source

Great App!

I am really enjoying the app, it is a great help to my studying! One suggestion: please add more biological molecules like RNA, Gylceraldehyde, Glyceraldehyde 3-Phosphate, and maybe Ribulose 1, 5-Biphosphate! Thank you :)

not worth 5 bucks

not worth 5 bucks… maybe 2, but definitely not 5

Not very useful

No option to draw your own molecules. This is an overpriced version of wikipedia.

Truly excellent app

Pros: Highly polished app, smooth molecule rotation/zooming. Very well picked out common molecule database (you'll find most, if not all, molecules used in high school or even college level Chemistry classes) Opens downloaded 3d molecular models quickly, regardless of the complexity of the model. I've tried .XYZ, .PDB, .MOL, all of them work well. All different kinds of atoms (e.g. Hydrogen=white, Oxygen=red, Carbon=gray, Nitrogen=blue, etc..) are color coded so you don't get confused. Different molecular modeling styles (Ball and Stick, Van der Waals, Licorice) Ability to zoom in quite far - very useful for large and complex models. Ability to change the background color. Excellent price, absolutely worth the $5. Cons: Does not display double and triple bonds. This almost made this a 4 star app for me. The "Open Molecule" window disappears every time you select a molecule and has to be reopened. I compare molecules much of the time, and it would be very helpful to constantly have access to that window. In Lion, when you switch desktops, the "Open Molecule" window hides itself. Cannot add downloaded models to the molecule library. Suggestions: It would be nice to be able to collapse the Wikipedia/info section that appears below the molecular window. Also, it would be helpful to include the ability to reverse rotation (it currently only rotates from left to right). A search feature would be nice.
